Ilford, United Kingdom WellCare Fostering Services Ltd Full time

**Full-time Foster Carers**

Fostering in WellCare Fostering Services

**Job Details**:
**Allowance**:
£400 - £1300 per week

**Job type**:
Full-time

**Location**:
London and surrounding Counties

**Benefits**
- Work From Home

Receive an allowance up to £1300 per week if you care for 2 or 3 young persons. The most rewarding part of all is the ability to change the pathway for young people. Your care has the power to change their life.

Fostering In WellCare are looking for caring and supportive people to join our cohort of foster carers.

Due to the nature of this role, you must live within or close to London and surrounding Counties in UK.

**What is a foster care?**

Foster Carers provide homes for children with needs, often aged between 0- 18 years old, providing them with a safe place to live and a nurturing family environment to support them through the difficulties they may have experienced.

We believe that children deserve to experience family life and should live in a family home wherever possible. The foster service provides enhanced wrap-around support, to children and foster carers.

These children have often had a difficult and sometimes traumatic start in life, which can lead to challenging behaviours. Foster carers can therefore expect to receive around £500 per week, to reflect the additional support and increased challenges of this role.

**What are the responsibilities of a foster carer?**
- Provide a nurturing, supportive home for a child and be an advocate for the child’s welfare.
- Support the educational and extra curriculum needs of the child, including supporting them to attend school.
- Promote personal development and extra curriculum activities.
- Maintain contact with the child’s birth family, if it is safe to do so.
- Work alongside professionals and partner organisations to provide a joined-up approach to the child’s care and well being.
- Be willing and available to attend all relevant meetings in relation to the child.
- Be committed to ongoing training and development.
- Demonstrate dedication, willingness and a commitment to care for children.

**Why foster with us?**

As a foster carer with WellCare Fostering, you'll be part of a caring and dedicated team focused on improving the lives of vulnerable children. WellCare Fostering is part of London Boroughs. This means that everything we do is not for profit and has the well being of local children at the heart of it. We understand the challenges that come with foster care and strive to provide our foster carers with the best possible support and resources to ensure a positive fostering experience.
- Regular visits from your Supervising Social Worker and enhanced support every step of the way.
- On-going and extensive specialist training, tailored to supporting you
- Regular peer support groups
- Regular group supervision.
- Support from a senior social work assistant, to provide additional support to children and carers.
- Support out of hours.
- Regular placement reviews to ensure that children and carers are receiving the right support at the right time.

**Who is eligible to apply?**

We need carers who are willing to help a child recover from the trauma they have experienced in their lives by supporting them. These children need high levels of empathy, compassion and understanding alongside consistent routines and boundaries. Fostering isn’t right for everyone but may be a good option for individuals looking for a new ‘career’.
- To be a foster carer you must be 21 or over.
- A foster child will live with you in your home - so you must have a spare bedroom available for them to use as a bedroom.
- You must be a British citizen/EEA nationals/Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) status holder.

**Assessment & Application**:
To become a foster carer, you will need to complete an assessment.

The main element of your assessment involves meeting and working with your dedicated Assessing Social Worker to complete a comprehensive form, to make sure you can offer a child security, stability and safety.

There are also additional checks we have to do as part of the assessment process, to make sure you can safely look after a child which include:

- Disclosure and Barring Service (Police check)
- A medical report via your GP
- A household risk assessment
- Your Local Authority check for the last 10 years
- Employment checks (where relevant)
- Ofsted check
- References from family and friends
- An education reference from your child’s school (if you have children of school age)
- A reference from anyone you have parented with, such as an ex-partner. We are mindful that this is not always comfortable but in practice this rarely presents any difficulties. You can speak to your social worker completing your assessment if you have particular concerns about this.

You're not committing to anything by getting in touch to find out more, and you could make a real difference to the life of a vulnerable child in this rewa
