The main purpose of the role is to have responsibility for overseeing and co-ordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of a clinical research team. This includes acting as an expert resource for colleagues to support them in the delivery of safe and valid research and effective care. If you have proven skills in a research and/or clinical management role, this could be the post for you. You will be expected to oversee a range of studies spanning various specialties with the following objectives:
Ensuring that the research portfolio is balanced with commercial and non-commercial trials

**Ensuring that performance targets are met**: recruitment time to target, capacity and demand forecasting

Working with the wider clinical teams across the organisation, central R&D team, clinical research network staff and commercial partners to identify suitable studies to improve patient care and the health of our local population

Facilitating the introduction of new business into our organisation to aid income generation

In addition, you will be responsible for line managing and developing a team of research staff, leading by example and empowering staff in their personal and professional development.

A vacancy has arisen within our progressive and committed research and development (R&D).

The business of research is performance led with close collaboration to the National Institute for Health & Care Research (NIHR). Objectives and performance targets are a daily theme in research with business objectives closely aligned to income generation to support the ongoing research activity across our ICO. This is a friendly and supportive team who are driven towards success.

The clinical research delivery team recruits participants from across the organisation into commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and research. We support research in a variety of clinical specialties and departments. We provide clinical research expertise from setting up studies with the clinical service through to informed consent, trial treatments and interventions and study follow-up. We use a range of clinical database systems to ensure high quality clinical data collection.

The team supports the safe conduct of research in in accordance with the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice guidelines and provides assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected.
