**Your new role**

National Highways have an excellent new opportunity for you to join as a **Programme Management Officer **in our Major Projects Directorate in (CIP) division. This role will start being based at the Bristol Office, for circa 12 months, before moving to a site-based role when the scheme moves into the construction phase.

In your new role, you will be ensuring consistency of approach to work planning and delivery across the portfolio of projects, overseeing all programme and project controls (schedule, cost, risk, change, document controls and reporting) for the region.

**What you’ll be leading on**
- Implement and embed standardised project control tools, procedures and processes geared to proposing, controlling and managing all work on the programme.
- Support the Regional PMO Manager in the management of the regional Programme Management Office team, providing guidance and advice and deputising when needed.
- Ensure accurate regional reporting for the programme, including schedule, cost and risk, is seamlessly produced to deadline and briefed to key stakeholders.
- Interface with Divisional teams, Procurement and Commercial colleagues as appropriate to ensure processes and controls meet the needs of the business, are compliant and fit with overarching strategy and objectives.
- Provide detailed analysis of schedule and cost variances, tracking against contingency and risk drawn downs, aligned with changes.
- Interrogate cost data and make recommendations to inform business decisions.
- Develop, implement and maintain project control-related interfaces with all client and partner company systems to ensure accurate and timely transmission of data with the minimum effort.
- Own and operate the monthly programme review and reporting timetable for the region aligned to national requirements.
- Provide status information and the related analysis to the Senior Leadership Team, Programme and Project Managers, and Project Team.
- Interface with Project teams, Senior Responsible Officers, stakeholders, customers, and delivery partners to ensure integration of project control tools and the flow of consistent accurate data and information.
- By exception undertake baseline reviews of projects to assure Project Controls processes and data.

**To be successful you’ll need**
- Significant Programme Management Office experience for large programmes working to very tight deadlines used to handling simultaneous requests for support and information.
- Expert knowledge of all project control tools (scheduling, cost, risk and change) and associated systems. Functional / Technical Skills
- Ability to analyse large quantities of data, summarising and making informed recommendations to optimise opportunities or mitigate risks.
- Extensive experience in people management including appraisals and staff development.
- Track record of improving systems and processes, embedding change, and achieving measurable business benefits.
- Clear ability to prioritise conflicting demands to meet challenging deadlines. supportive relationships with supply chain and regional teams.
