As a team that works on threat related issues, we expect our staff to work flexibly and adapt to rapidly changing requirements and priorities across the team, wider Division and Directorate. The Transport Security Directorate invests significantly in training and developing staff to prepare them not just for an interesting and challenging job, but also for a rewarding career in the Government. Our expectation is that our staff will remain in post for at least two years.

Within the Transport Security Directorate, the Aviation Security International Operations (ASIO) Division supports DfT’s strategic priorities by working collaboratively with foreign countries and partners to assess vulnerabilities and build aviation security capabilities in a number of priority countries. ASIO works ‘hand in glove’ with DfT’s Aviation Security Strategy & Policy (ASSP) Division to manage the risk of attacks against civil aviation inbound to the UK, as well as working to improve global aviation security standards bilaterally and through raising international standards.

ASIO’s vision is to be an engaged and empowered team that delivers a world leading service, working collaboratively with our partners to mitigate the risk of a terrorist attack against inbound civil aviation.

**_ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: _**
- Responsible for the delivery of technical assessment and assurance activities across priority countries, drawing on their aviation security expertise to assess the security vulnerabilities of the airport and consider mitigation recommendations.
- Responsible for the delivery of stakeholder briefings to international partners to support the delivery of ASIO’s assessment activities.
- Project management of assessments and assurance activities, working with the ASIO overseas teams to reduce vulnerabilities identified and improve Aviation Security.
- Preparing high quality professional assessment reports, detailing findings and insights from the assessment within agreed timescale.

For more information about the role and responsibilities please see the attached Role Profile.

You are highly organised and flexible and can prioritise and adapt to changing circumstances whilst making sure to keep quality at the forefront.

**Additional information**

The role includes travel to, and operating in, locations in different time zones. Working hours can often be dictated by aviation operations overseas. Overtime and travel time will be payable where required and within DfT HR Handbook guidance. Flexibility will be required, particularly when travelling and operating overseas, to ensure that DfT is able to successfully deliver its assessment programme. On average you will be working away from home 1 week in every 4.

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.

This role requires you to be medically fit to travel overseas.

We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:
