Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for an exciting and challenging role, as a Senior Information Governance Officer.

Working with other Senior Information Governance Officers, you will manage a small team of Officers helping to process requests for information, preparing, checking and making disclosures within statutory deadlines.

You will need to be hard working, creative and show flexibility when required to effectively manage the workload of Information Governance Officers. You will need to prioritise tasks, often in the face of competing demands and have an understanding of how the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 are applied to these requests.

To succeed in this role; you will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop working relationships with staff across the Trust, patients and members of the public.

You must be well organised, be able to manage staff and have excellent computer skills. The ability to work unsupervised with a high degree of accuracy while carrying out a variety of administrative tasks is essential. The main purpose of the job is to oversee the processing of requests and to process complex requests for information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Access to Health Records Act 1990. This includes:

- Monitoring overall performance of the team based on KPIs
- Responding to complex requests and relevant escalations
- Allocating work to information governance officers
- Line managing information governance officers, including preparing rotas and carrying out regular 1-2-1s
- Liaising with relevant departments to retrieve records
- To coordinate and oversee the timely disclosure of court orders, police requests and other regulatory body requests
- Preparing statistics for the IG management team
- To provide basic advice to the organisation on data protection matters such as incidents, information sharing and DPIAs

Staff Management
- To manage and support the department to meet its objectives and review performance and set standards for all staff under your line management.
- To be responsible for the monitoring of sickness and annual leave within the department.
- To ensure that a robust induction process is in place for all new and temporary and permanent members of staff joining the department

Performance management
- To work with the Information Governance Management team to continually develop and review the services provided.
- To be responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the department database to ensure that all information requests are processed within the statutory timeframe and that accurate information on all key performance indicators is available for the Information Governance Management team.
- To identify efficiency improvements and to implement any training and development needs.

Finance
- To monitor the monthly financial reports against agreed budgets and plans during the year, and to be responsible for budget management in operational areas of responsibility. This includes authorising pay and non-pay expenditure for invoices, signing time sheets, and completing manpower returns where necessary.

Strategy and service improvement
- To support the monitoring of compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirements in the service.
- To support conflict resolution with patients, staff, other internal and external service providers and partner organisations.
- To investigate in line with Trust Policy, any complaints and made any necessary recommendations as appropriate.
- To contribute to the development of the Information Governance Department including identification and implementation of process improvement, including best practice, development and delivery of training, new initiatives
