Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

**Support Manager (Engineering /Calibration / Metrology)**
**Do you have experience in delivering a technical support service?**

Would you like to play a key role within the Barrow Calibration Centre (BCC) Support Department to provide critical project and budgetary management support to ongoing and incoming maintenance and calibration requests? We currently have a vacancy for a Support Manager at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As a Support Manager, you will work within the Support Department at BCC which is the operational hub for all customer Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) requiring maintenance and calibration supporting quality, product integrity, and health and safety throughout the business. This will include the use of the IndySoft management information System (MIS) for the retention of test data, workflow management, reporting, parts, logistics, procurement and external vendor management.

This key role within the BCC will provide operational, procurement, and budgetary management ensuring efficient collaboration of operations with mínimal delays with interdepartmental, customer and vendor liaison to ensure support interfaces run smoothly, budgets are controlled effectively.

This role will provide you with a wide range of activities, and you will play a key role within a specialist team that provides measurement and engineering services to BAE Systems across the entire Barrow shipyard and airfield.

**Your main responsibilities as a Support Manager will involve**:

- Act as the main Customer 'point-of-contact' for all BCC workload prioritisation, status checks, repair, replacement and equipment obsolescence etc
- Management of KPI and performance reporting against internal operations and external supply chain events
- Daily management of vendors including Contract Review for external services
- Consultation & evaluation of Service Management contracts
- Parts procurement management/expenditure
- Support Team Management including personnel performance & development reviews
- Invoicing and daily sign-off responsibility the department
- Working with financial controllers within various departments to ensure that budgets are allocated correctly
- Logistics & equipment movements' management including security & export control processes
- IndySoft operations, updates, process & I.T. Liaison
- Liaison with Quality Management Team to ensure ISO17025 & contract(s) compliance

**Your skills and qualifications**:

- Excellent Senior Stakeholder management skills,
- Experience of Financial management such as Cost and Budgeting
- Management Information System experience, such as SAP, CRM or other ERP or MI Systems
- Good office management skills and experience of managing a small team
- Procurement or Supply Chain experience
- A good knowledge of logistics
- Excellent vendor Management skills
- Good workload management skills and coordination of inputs to projects
