**Our Submarines Business**

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

**Lead Project Professional**

Would you like to lead on complex projects within BAE Systems Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Lead Project Professional at our site in Barrow.

As a Lead Project Professional, you will be leading day to day management responsibilities within the Strategic Weapon Organisation (SWO), being actively involved in the leadership and management of submarine system kits and ensuring the business is ready to receive them into the build schedule, the management of change and risk analysis for the SWO Programme team.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with a range of stakeholders in different countries. You will be working with many specialist areas within the business that will allow you to expand your skills and experience, leading to new opportunities within the wider BAE systems Business.

**Your main responsibilities as a Lead Project Professional will involve**:
Leading the multi-functional integrated matrix team and the creation of the detailed plans that co-ordinate the work within the shipyard adding refinement and increased efficiency to the process.

Leading the multi-functional project and ensuring kits are receipted in the business as effective business as usual.

Developing workable plans to coordinate the activities of the various teams contributing to success.

Agreeing approach with stakeholders and prepares realistic mitigation plans.

Leading readiness meetings between the various teams and SME's to ensure the shipyard is prepared in all aspects to receipt the key components as part of the Strategic Weapon Support Systems delivery.

Establish and maintain a network of stakeholders active in the work of kit consumption and work with these stakeholders to solve day to day problems by seeking consensus agreements on the way forwards.

Working with various functional team to ensure business processes are correctly followed ensuring safety first principles.

Ensuring all the enabling activities are completed ahead of component delivery at site.

Working closely with Barrow teams across site, Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to understand current and future component delivery schedule and receipt requirements.

**Your skills and qualifications**:
APM qualified PM or equivalent qualification

Project Management experience.

Experience delivering projects across a full lifecycle.

Good knowledge of Project Controls. EAC, EVM, Risk and Opportunity management

**Desirable**

Contract Management experience

Submarine build or defence sector experience.

P6 or MS Project Experience.

Teamcentre and SAP experience
