To provide a support service to the secretarial, medical and non-medical staff of the Department. To deal with enquiries in person or via the telephone, in a courteous and confidential manner and provide assistance as required. To maintain ongoing liaison with the daily Department Co-ordinators. To ensure elective and emergency operating lists are maintained and prepared in readiness for clinical work.

Record alterations and cancellations in a timely manner and ensure those affected are made aware. To liaise with secretaries and other departments within the Trust as necessary. To maintain the various filing systems and record books within the Department and provide a filing system for all departmental staff to use. To demonstrate own activities to all new Receptionists and ensure that they are fully aware of all Trust and department policies and procedures.
