The post holder will be a proactive role model who leads in the clinical environment on the provision of clinical education and assessment of competence in critical care.

The post holder will

work alongside nurses and other healthcare practitioners to ensure the provision of high quality safe and effective evidence-based care; in accordance with local, divisional and hospital policies and procedures

Assist in identifying and defining areas for improvement and develop targeted teaching and learning activities to facilitate improvement

Develop and deliver training and educational programmes and optimise learning activities for practitioners

Ensure that the organisation has an accurate record of a practitioner's learning

To coordinate orientation of new staff
To promote reflective practice, clinical supervision and experiential learning opportunities developing a learning culture in the clinical environment. To contribute towards the development and maintenance of clinical staff competence in the use of medical equipment in the clinical area, in order to comply with the Trust’s health and safety policy.
To be a visible role model to ensure that the dignity, rights and confidentiality of the patient and individual team members are protected and maintained in accordance with national standards and guideline

Working for our organisation

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic and innovative team of the Specialist Receiving Unit (SRU) as Clinical Educator to cover maternity leave, as a 12 month secondment.

We are an emergency admission unit that receives patients from four specialities within the Cancer and Associated Specialities Division: Oncology, Haematology, Renal and Infectious Diseases. The vast majority of our patients are patients with cancer that have become unwell during their treatment.

On SRU we pride ourselves on our Neutropenic Sepsis Care and Acute Care Skills. This is an excellent environment to develop and learn a plethora of clinical skills. You will be supported by our dedicated clinical educator, and the ward team throughout your practice on SRU. For us staff development is essential. As a member of our team you will have access to an Oncology Foundation Course, and a Haematology Study day to ensure you have the relevant specialist knowledge.

You will be joining a diverse and motivated team that is dedicated to the development of specialist clinical skills and the delivery of high quality safe patient care.
