Are you an experienced, self-motivated surgical nurse with a passion for improving the education, training and support for staff? If so this exciting new opportunity could be for you to be Clinical Educator for Ward F22, Intestinal Failure Unit.

The successful post holder will be a proactive role model with excellent clinical credibility and excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Your skills will be crucial to the continuing development of the teams.

You will work in the service ensuring we have the right skills in the right place at the right time to deliver excellent quality services. This will involve developing and delivering training and education programmes for new and existing staff on F22. The key to this will be your ability to deliver education and assessment within a busy ward environment. There will be an element of supporting the delivery of the divisional mandatory training programme

You will be expected to work with staff in the clinical area on a daily basis in order to create a work based learning culture for the nursing team. A particular focus will be support for the Trainee Nursing Associates, Apprentices and new starters - both registered & unregistered nurses within the ward area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Be a qualified experienced Mentor/assessor
- Have extensive experience within gastroenterology/Nutrition services/Parenteral nutrition
- Have experience of teaching both informally and formally

Person specification

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Current level one NMC registration
- Educated to degree level
- Teaching qualification or evidence of delivering educational sessions
- Qualified and experienced mentor meeting NMC Mentor standards

Desirable criteria
- Previous clinical education experience

Experience

Essential criteria
- Demonstrates evidence of close working with newly registered staff.
- Demonstrates evidence of clinical teaching in the practice setting

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Band 5/6 experience working clinically in an acute hospital setting
- Experience of teaching in formal and clinical settings
- Audit or research within the clinical area

Communication and Relationship

Essential criteria
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.

Planning and organisational skills

Essential criteria
- Ability to collate appropriate evidence as required in relation to training provision.

Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate effective time management skills

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
