**Job summary**:
The advertised posts are within the Army Adventurous Training Group, we provide the focus for the delivery of adventurous training courses and expeditions throughout the Army.

Adventurous Training is core military training which supports operational effectiveness and the ethos of the Armed Forces and remains an essential element of the offer. It is military training, which through the controlled exposure to risk, enables Service personnel to develop the fortitude, rigour, robustness, teamwork, physical fitness, and initiative necessary to deliver the leadership skills and personal resilience that military personnel require on operations and for other military tasks. Within the Army Adventurous Training Group sits the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre who specialise in the development of future adventurous training leaders and instructors, and the Army Adventurous Training Centre who specialise in group bookings for foundation level courses and multi-activity packages.

This position is advertised at 18.5 hours per week.

**Job description**:

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity within the Army Adventurous Training Wing in Inverness, delivering foundation level courses

The post at Inverness is a part time post and part of a job share.

**Person specification**:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Instruct on adventurous training courses and concentrations
- Implement Training Risk assessments procedures.
- Deliver professional safe training in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage training accidents/incidents in liaison with the relevant emergency services and ensure an all-informed net as per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Write reports and action plans on all students under instruction.
- Complete external invalidation processes on request.
- Contribute to instructor Quality Assurance training audit visits at regular intervals to ensure programmed courses are delivered safely to achieve standard methodology.
- Maintain training currency through adherence to a Personal Development Plan and achievement of the relevant courses.
- Support Risk assurance checks and Peer reviews.
- Ensure currency in Mountain First Aid through possession of an in-date certificate.
- Undertake driving duties, including towing trailers, as required adhering to service regulations and unit Standing Orders.
- Participate in adventurous training activities as required to maintain or develop knowledge of Joint Services Adventure Training (JSAT) fields and process.

Our Specialist Instructional Officers (SIOs) are required to work independently and as part of a team. You will have good IT skills and the ability to express yourself orally and in writing. In addition, you will be required to have an enhanced ability to teach and hold the following essential professional qualifications.
- Summer and Winter mountaineering and climbing instructor.
- Kayak, open canoe, sea kayak instructor.
- Mountain biking instructor.
- Skiing Alpine & Nordic instructor.
- Mountain 1st
