**Role Profile**

The position of **Ship Tracking Intelligence Lead** is a new role that joins the Data & Content teams at Lloyd’s List Intelligence, the global leaders in maritime big data, analytics and insight for customers connected to the maritime ecosystem, needing to make faster and more accurate business decisions.

Lloyd’s List Intelligence has a highly ambitious data and product roadmap for the next three years, delivering high velocity, high growth products to an increasingly sophisticated customer group in the ever-changing compliance environment. This role will help to keep Lloyd’s List Intelligence at the forefront of all technological advancements to do with tracking ships across the globe, how that data is captured and drives our products, solutions and analytical models.

This position presents an exciting opportunity for an energetic, results-driven, and personable individual with experience of large maritime data sets and a thirst to learn, work fast to understand problems and implement solutions. With experience of AIS and other existing and emerging tracking methodologies, this position will suit someone who has a good mix of commercial acumen and technological know-how and wants to make a significant impact from day one.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Produce a ship-tracking data strategy with a programme of improvements over the next 3-5 years, that feeds into the overall group and business strategy
- Includes AIS, both terrestrial and satellite, non-AIS (including RF, imaging etc), and human validation.
- Produce business cases for enhancement projects and present to senior leadership for sign off, that showcase data quality and differentiation from competitors.
- Work with Programme Management team to create project plans, and mobilise matrix teams to deliver
- Monitor data quality on existing tracking data, and present Senior Management with opportunities to improve timely and comprehensive data
- Ensure all key supplier relationships managed by the team are governed by up-to-date agreements that are fit for purpose and approved with the Lloyd’s List Intelligence legal team
- Support stakeholders on customer calls/visits where expertise is required
- Work with Product Management to provide understanding of capability

**What we are looking for**:
**Essential**
- Essential background and at least 5 years’ experience in analysing Terrestrial AIS, satellite AIS, ship-borne AIS, Long range identification
- A working understanding of the technical foundations of AIS and other ship tracking, how data is collected and how it is relayed, processed and databased
- An understanding of local data protection laws surrounding vessel tracking data and its use
- Proven success in implementing improvements in vessel tracking, radio frequency communications, and the like
- Innovative and dynamic approach to problem-solving
- Good project management skills - being able to articulate business justifications, build timelines and risks.
- Demonstrable stakeholder management across all areas of the business, facilitating relationship building at all levels
- Confident presentation skills for internal and external audiences, including senior leadership team
- A high degree of understanding about the quality of vessel tracking data and how to test for it

**Desirable**
- Background in RF and imaging, with an interest in learning more
- Proven success in negotiating with suppliers
- Experience of preparing procurement tenders and assessing applicants to award contracts.
- Experience of resolving complex customer queries with regards to ship movements, AIS etc
