Surgical Theatres Housekeeper

The housekeeper will monitor and maintain environmental cleanliness to set standards and, as part of the unit team, the post holder will complement the delivery of patient care by theatre team. The surgical theatre housekeeper will be required to undertake a range of duties associated with the procurement service to theatres which includes deputising for the divisional stores coordinator with stock control, ordering and storage.
- Daily tidying of changing rooms, collect and restock theatre scrubs
- Maintain a clean & tid
- Check and maintain adequate levels of linen and assist staff in keeping the theatre reception area clean and tidy.
- Remove and dispose of used linen as per trust policy to collection points.
- Patient / service user related tasks /duties
- Ensure warning signs are displayed where necessary
- Stock ordering and storage to facilitate rotation and financial governance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure mandatory training is up to date
- Ensure adherence to the Christie Values & Behaviors
- Clean and prepare patient trolleys for use and record with the ‘I Am Clean’ stickers.
- Learn and maintain a working knowledge of systems necessary to assist the divisional stores coordinator.
- Maintain water management records and ensure operational readiness.
- Ensure kitchen is kept clean at all times and ensure good stock rotation system is in operation for dry goods and provisions.
- Clean fridge/microwaves/cupboards/drawers on a weekly basis and dispose of recycling bins as required.
- Ensure linen, bin bags and general waste are moved to collection area and fire exits remain clear.
- Maintain theatre sluice areas.
- Radiotherapy Theatres - Order and restock theatre scrubs and linen
- Recovery area - ensure adequate supply of linen and exchange recovery bay patient curtains as per infection control policy. Restock blanket warming cabinet as required.
- To assist and direct patients/visitors where and when appropriate.
- To answer telephone greeting caller in a professional & courteous manner using: location, name and title to take the call.
- Ensure hand-washing equipment soap, paper towels, alcohol hand gel are available in all designated areas
- To observe and maintain a high standard of fixture and fittings. To escalate any problems or concerns and report to defects to estates via the reporting tool on Hive
- To be familiar with the unit environment, including general safety aspects e.g. Patient call bell, fire exits, alarm bells, etc.
- The Post holder must always carry out all their duties in accordance with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy
- The housekeeper is responsible for taking reasonable care with regard to him/her health & safety as well as for any colleagues, patients or visitors who might be affected by any act or failure to act by the housekeeper in accordance with the Trust’s policies.
- These duties and responsibilities are non-exhaustive and postholder to may be required to undertake other duties and responsibilities consistent with the grade of the post

- To undertake cleaning duties in accordance with the schedules and procedures of the unit
- Undertake weekly cleaning of unit equipment/environment as per disinfection/cleaning policy.
- To monitor and audit standard of cleanliness on the unit daily, liaising with domestic service and theatre coordinator where appropriate.
- To ensure staff rest areas and changing rooms are kept clean and tidy
- Daily temperature recording of staff fridge & weekly fridge internal & external clean
- Partake in departmental meetings as require
