**Sheltered Housing Support Officer (Part time 25hrs Mon-Fri)**

The shift pattern you will work is 8am to 1pm Monday to Friday

A clear security check from PVG Scotland and two satisfactory references are essential.

Our client’s development consists of 63 one-bedroom retirement bungalows with residents accepted from 65 years of age. Our independent Housing Support Service is aimed to enable residents who want to live independently but need a bit more support, or those who want to live in a smaller home that's easier to manage. The key features offered are:

- help from housing support officer to aid independent living
- 24-hour emergency help through an alarm system
- communal areas, such as gardens & community meeting area
- social activities for residents

**GENERAL**
- The Sheltered Housing Support Officer will be on site from 8am to 1pm Monday to Friday. Outside of these times cover will be provided through the arrangement of enhanced telecare provision.
- You will support people who need care and support to help them live independently and maintain their tenancy.
- As required accompany the Service Manager, to meetings with our client’s staff to agree the provision of the service and issues concerning tenants.
- Manage the lists of tenants' Nominated Representatives and GPs and provide details to the client as required to allow the necessary administration of the support service and tenancy.
- Liaise with the appointed telecare services provider for the development to ensure they have up-to-date records and contact information for all tenants.
- Provide general advice on current standards and regulations to enable the client to ensure that it complies with the expectations of the Care Inspectorate and other regulatory bodies.
- Prepare monthly summary reports in an agreed format which details the current level of support being provided across the development.

**HOUSING SUPPORT**
- Maintain a daily presence at the development and be the first point of contact for tenants between 8.00am to 1.00pm, Monday to Friday.
- Discuss tenants' individual housing support needs and draw up a mutually agreed programme of support and carry out regular reviews.
- Carry out welfare checks by telephone or in person as required and agreed with each tenant. Arrange alternative provision as required via telecare services provider for periods outside duty hours. Maintain records of checks undertaken.
- Assist with the response to telecare emergency alarms during on-duty periods and advise the client in retrospect on the next working day where appropriate.
- Follow-up on reports of telecare emergency alarms during out-of-hours periods and liaise with staff from our client on any actions required.
- Participate in the testing regime for the telecare emergency alarm system and ensure tenants undertake regular tests in line with agreed responsibilities and standards.
- Assist with organising social events and activities for tenants at the development.

**HOUSING MANAGEMENT**
- Liaise with our client, their agents, and other agencies regarding support for adaptions to tenants' houses to enable them to cope with changing needs within their fitness to occupy 'entry level' sheltered housing.
- Monitor the suitability of tenants to continue to occupy a sheltered house and liaise with the client and the tenant's Nominated Representative as appropriate where concerns are identified.
- Assist our client to enable tenants to move to other accommodation that is more suited to their fitness, working with external agencies where required.
- Assist our client’s Tenancy Officer to assess prospective tenants for fitness to occupy sheltered housing based on agreed criteria.
- Assist our client’s staff to enforce Tenancy Conditions.
- Help our client to arrange minor repairs and servicing of equipment and appliances within the development.
- Assist and provide advice to our client’s staff and tenants to help resolve any neighbour disputes.

**EXCLUSIONS**

This role relates to the provision of housing support services only and the provision of personal care and/or personal support to tenants are specifically excluded.

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED**
- SVQ2 qualification or above or Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or above
- experience of working in social care & health or come from a housing background.
- Proficient IT skills. Word, Excel and Outlook beneficial.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good team player.
- Previous experience in working with older people is preferred.
