Reporting to the Principal Officer - Trading Standards, the duties in this post will involve carrying out out the general tasks associated with the role of a Trading Standards Officer. The successful post holder must hold the Diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent including being qualified to act as an Inspector of Weights and Measures.

Your duties will include:

- The investigation of alleged breaches of criminal trading law, intelligence led investigation of unfair trading practices and product sampling/test purchasing.
- Take on the lead officer role in a particular area of trading standards law.
- Carry out the duties of an Inspector of Weights and Measures.
- Provide advice and guidance to local businesses and consumers in respect of the criminal and civil obligations under trading standards legislation.
- Carry out national / local enforcement projects and community planning initiatives.
- Attend meetings on behalf of Communities Service and Perth & Kinross Council as required.
- Work closely with other agencies and/or neighbouring authorities to facilitate joint working arrangements.
- Adhere to Perth & Kinross Council’s policies and procedures.

This post is currently homeworking due to the pandemic. Perth & Kinross Council is currently progressing with a hybrid working model offering access to office working on some days/when required. Initially this is on a temporary basis with longer term options becoming available in future. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
