**Job introduction**:
We have two exciting roles in our Public Transport team leading on key public transport improvement projects including our Zero Emissions Buses project (Zebra2).

In December 2023 Brighton & Hove City Council, working in partnership with Brighton & Hove Buses, submitted a bid for the Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) 2 scheme.

The bid was for the delivery of sixteen battery electric buses, together with the required infrastructure, to replace diesel buses on the frequent no7 route. In March 2024 we received confirmation of funding and are expected to work with the bus operator to ensure successful implementation of the project by 2026.

If you’re interested in contributing to the future of a healthier, carbon neutral, public transport network, then this role is a great opportunity for you.

**Fixed term for**: Two years

**Interview date**: Week commencing 19 May 2024

**About the role**:
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will lead will be responsible for ensuring quality and value for money and that our partners deliver the project in accordance with the agreed project plan. They will provide assurance and reporting and statistics to the Department of Transport and be responsible for all stakeholder engagement including with members & senior officers to director level.

The SPM will also be expected to lead on the delivery of a number of key projects in the BSIP program which are at a various phases of planning, delivery and monitoring. You will manage the Project Officer who will support you in this role.

The Project Officer will support the SPM in delivery and assurance of the Zebra2 project and lead on a number of smaller but significant projects as well as assist the wider public transport team with business as usual workstreams

The Zebra2 scheme forms part of our commitment to zero emission transport as set out in our Bus Service Improvement Plan, published in 2022.

The main objectives of the BSIP are:

- Increase bus passenger numbers
- Reduce bus journey times
- Increase bus passenger satisfaction levels
- Improve bus reliability

Both posts require good communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with people at all levels.

A flexible and adjustable approach is being used for the delivery of the BSIP programme. Therefore, a versatile approach to tasks is needed, such as budget management, internal and external enquiries, budget and contract management. These roles are suitable for people who thrive on learning new skills; are motivated and proactive and can work independently. Working as a part of team is also important as you will be joining a dynamic and friendly team.
