This is a full-time post that is primarily based at our QMC Campus with occasional working at the City Hospital site.

You will provide high quality administrative services to the Trust’s medical undergraduate teaching team across the Clinical Phases of the course. You will work with mínimal supervision, managing your own workload to effectively deliver a wide range of administrative, organisational and some pastoral care duties.

You will play a pivotal role in providing support and information to the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Undergraduate Medical Education Manager as well as the Undergraduate Education Quality Manager who are responsible for the Trust’s Service Increment For Teaching (SIFT) contract, which has a current value of £10.5 Million.

There will also be opportunity for continual professional development within the role with scope to support funding of courses and programmes relevant to your development needs in line with the role as well as your future aspirations.

Working for our organisation

This post is primarily based at the QMC Campus with occasional work at City Hospital. However, a flexible attitude to working arrangements is essential as individuals must be prepared to support the wider Undergraduate Medical Education team as and when required.

The key job responsibilities are as follows:
To act as a main point of contact for the NUH Medical Education Centre (clinical skills area). This will include and is not restricted to the setting up and clearing down of the clinical areas and teaching rooms for patient workshops and simulation, lecture based teaching, clinical skills sessions and assessments.

Support teaching staff with the setup of computer equipment, smart boards and iPads.

Maintain the medical education mannequins with the support of the UMED team, to ensure their correct use.

Maintain the room booking system and handle room booking queries.

You will be the main point of contact for ordering and maintaining stock levels with regular stock checks to ensure that stock is ordered in a timely manner.

Work alongside the Undergraduate Medical Education team to carry out risk and COSSH assessments in line with NUH policy and keep notice boards up to date with the latest feedback, presentations and departmental changes.

Essential criteria
- A levels or Diploma in Business Admin/ or equivalent qualification/experience.

Desirable criteria
- Experience in a clinical skills, education or hospital environment
- Evidence of personal progression in previous job(s)

Experience

- Minimum two years relevant administrative or clinical skills experience.
- Proven record of planning, organisation and administration skills.
- Responsive to change.
- Able to work autonomously and manage own workload
- Ability to proof read and has attention to detail.

Desirable criteria
- Experience of frequent use and management of databases

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Evidence of excellent communication skills (verbal, written, phone). Ability to adapt communication style accordingly.
- Pastoral skills as regards care of students; diplomatic but able to deal effectively with challenging issues.
- Awareness of multi-cultural needs and diversity issues, ability to adapt to and overcome communication barriers.
