We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Integrated Mental Health Team covering Burntwood, Lichfield & Tamworth.

You will join a developing and innovative service that aims to provide the right care and treatment at the right time, to individuals within the South East Staffordshire area. You will become part of an established multi-disciplinary team that has a strong emphasis on delivering evidence based psychological interventions to meet the needs of individuals with secondary mental health needs within our neighbourhood.

Working with registered Occupational Therapists, contributing observations to service user assessments and assisting in delivering therapeutic activities designed by others.

Working with delegated service users who remain the responsibility of the registered Occupational Therapist, reporting in a timely and appropriate manner. Service users may demonstrate behaviours that challenge or have difficult family situations of relevance.

Facilitating the use of a range of therapeutic activities, designed by registered staff, for groups or individuals, observing and monitoring service user progress and making adjustments to activities (within established protocols).

Engaging service users and their carers in therapeutic programmes of care and encourage them in a compassionate manner, to support them in achieving their identified goals and to promote independence and well-being through a client centred approach.

Development and Progression Within Mental Health Services at MPFT - YouTube

We are looking for someone who has experience, relevant knowledge and a passion to be working with mental health service users, contributing to delivery of a package of care to promote recovery. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate drive and motivation in providing recovery based Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions.

You will have the opportunity to work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, which includes other allied health professionals, nursing, medics, social workers and psychology. Your role will involve working closely with other agencies, carers, service users, families, the local community and Community Mental Health Teams, ensuring continuity of service is provided at a high level.
