Due to team reconfiguration an exciting opportunity has arisen within the IRT team in Lichfield for a Band 4 Duty Screener. This is a permanent position and is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to work in adult social care. It would be suited to someone who has an interest in the welfare of those in the community of Lichfield and surrounding areas who may need telephone support, signposting, advice, reassurance, information gathering and triaging. It is a crucial position in supporting the teams as it is the initial point of contact and requires the ability to concisely record in detail which then supports the allocation process and interventions by colleagues.

All contact is done via telephone. It is a fast-paced role which requires excellent communication skills, a good telephone manner and skills in IT and recording on the system electronically. The role involves working closely with service-users, carers, partner agencies and other professionals as well as your colleagues.

You will be fully supported to develop your skills and experience and the successful applicant will be working alongside social workers, social care assessors and senior care act assessors. You will have the full support of the Practice Lead with monthly formal supervision.

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) is an award winning organisation with over 9000 employees. We are one of the largest integrated Health and Social Care providers, covering services across North & South Staffordshire, Shropshire, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, Isle of Wight and Essex.

We are embedding values based and inclusive recruitment practices to ensure that all applicants, from any backgrounds, have an equal chance of success in achieving a role with us.

A good knowledge of the services available to support and promote independence in the local area is beneficial but not essential as an induction and full training will be provided. The Trust is committed to professional development and will provide opportunity for training and routes for career progression.

Due to the nature of this role, the ability to travel across the locality is essential

Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA)

On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA ‘stage’ (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.
