The key focus of this position will be to provide and set high standards of scoping, survey design, survey capability and factual, interpretative, advisory, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Shadow Habitat Regulation Assessment (sHRA), legal/licensing reporting output, adhering to deadlines, and working in an accurate, timely and effective manner. The role will also include team, project, and client relationship management, business development, and strategic support, depending on your interests and experience.

This position will be for an office of your choice in either Glasgow or Perth. Travelling and regular working away at our client sites is also a requirement of the role.

We are looking for:

- Masters and Degree qualified in an Environmental discipline;
- Be a chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CIEEM)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional consultancy and advanced understanding of the EIA process and methods;
- Full and valid driving licence suitable for the UK;
- Holder of a CSCS card; and

The Principal Ecologist will be a source of expert advice in respect of one or more technical and/or business sector specialisms (i.e. Ornithology, NVC) and will be named as a licensee or licensee’s agent on protected species derogation (‘mitigation’) licences.

The Principal Ecologist will ensure the team effectively manage sub-contractors and quality check that the work and deliverables are undertaken/provided to the standard required by Gavia Environmental Limited.

To play an active part in attracting new clients and generating new business for the company. Increasingly may be allocated role as a key point of contact for one or more especially valued Clients.

To operate in compliance with the Gavia Environmental Staff Handbook, appropriate Code(s) of Professional Conduct and with strict regard to relevant legal requirements.

To continue to develop professionally and to make a positive contribution to the promotion of the Company.

**What we offer**

For our new starters, Gavia offers Salaries in the range of **£45 - 55K **dependent upon experience and is based on 40 hours per week. **Additional Information**

For this role, you must have evidence of the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a relocation package with this job role.
