Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Ecologist to join our team. As a key member of our environmental consultancy, you will be responsible for leading projects, managing budgets, and providing expert advice to clients.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in technical delivery and team leadership, with a strong background in ecological surveys and analysis. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of technical quality and ensuring that all project deliverables meet client expectations.

About the Role:

  • Lead and manage projects from conception to completion
  • Manage budgets and cash flow, attend meetings, and provide expert advice to clients
  • Hold responsibility for technical quality and approval of project deliverables
  • Undertake ecological surveys and analyze results of field surveys
  • Develop and implement biodiversity strategies and ecological impact assessments
  • Liaise with statutory authorities and other stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 8+ years' experience in an ecological or environmental consultancy, with a proven track record of technical delivery and team leadership
  • Relevant degree in an environmental discipline
  • Full or Associate Member of CIEEM
  • Commercial and project management skills
  • Able to work hybrid/remote in one of our multiple office locations across Scotland
  • A passion for nature and a commitment to collaboration

On Offer:

  • Salary up to £54,000 depending on experience and level
  • 35 hours working week with flexible start and finish times
