Do you have good communication and team working skills and enjoy working in a busy hospital environment? If so, please come and join our Speech & Language Therapy team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust.

We have 24 staff and provide a service across both Royal Preston and Chorley District Hospitals to In-patients and out-patients. The job entails working alongside a Speech & language Therapist seeing patients who have difficulty swallowing, communicating or producing voice. It is a varied and interesting caseload and will suit someone who is caring, compassionate and who enjoys working with people.

Our speech and language therapy team are a highly motivated, friendly and passionate team, working in a fast-paced environment across a range of specialist and tertiary services. Regular supervision will be provided.

To support the delivery of the Speech and Language Therapy service across RPH and CDH sites

To work with Speech & Language Therapists in managing people dysphagia and disorders of communication respectively

To work effectively within multidisciplinary teams

To carry out non-clinical tasks

To manage time effectively

To demonstrate prioritisation skills and a flexible approach to work practice

This post sits within the wider Speech and Language therapy service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. We are a large team and are part of Integrated Nutrition and Communication Services which includes the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition Nurses. We are a friendly team rated 'GOLD' on the STAR quality assurance framework with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice with regular CPD, appraisal and training opportunities.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provides district general hospital services to 370,000 people in Preston and Chorley, and specialist (tertiary) care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are part of an active regional stroke delivery network, which drives quality improvement initiative and provides training opportunities.

You will carry out assessment and intervention as directed by a Speech and Language Therapist. You will support patients with their communication and swallowing needs. You will complete administrative tasks in a timely manner and be involved with service development to continually improve patient care.
