The postholder will undertake general administration duties within the Emergency Department, assisting the medical secretary team and the reception team.
- To support office and telephone cover across Emergency Department
- Carry out administration tasks as appropriate, this includes photocopying, scanning, filing, collating information & collating reports.
- To book in patients to the Emergency Department

An opportunity has arisen for two full time Admin Apprentices to join our team in the Emergency Department.

Derriford Hospital’s Emergency Department is the largest ED in the South West. We see over 110000 patients a year, from both rural and urban environments, with a broad casemix. We practice a modern emergency medicine model incorporating both observational medicine and ambulatory care. We have been designated as the major trauma Centre in the region.

This role will provide a unique opportunity to gain varied administrative experience in a demanding yet stimulating and rewarding environment. Applicants should have an enthusiastic, hardworking and responsible attitude and be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.

Working pattern for the role will be Monday - Friday.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
- Take appropriate actions with regard to telephone calls from patients, GPs and other agencies using initiative, in adherence to Trust guidelines.
- Requesting and tracing notes
- General filing
- Opening the post
- General administration and support for the Emergency Department Consultants
- Support keeping the ED Secretaries inbox updated.
- Input data as appropriate.
- To support with reception duties and booking in patients
- Assist with lost property enquiries
