About the role
Registration Officer - Appointments - Fixed term until March 2025

Are you looking for the opportunity to work as a Registration Officer? Do you enjoy engaging with the general public, are you a good, empathetic communicator and listener?

Two (fixed-term) part-time opportunites have arisen to work primarily at our Cambridge office and our Huntingdon office, but travel to our other offices in the County may be required, when needed.

Our registration offices are very busy, carrying out thousands of legal registrations of births and deaths, as well as taking notices of marriage and civil partnership.

Training will be given on Registration legislation and practice.
- One part-time position: based at our Cambridge Office, 9.30am - 2.30pm, 3 weekdays (days to be agreed).
- One part-time position: based at our Huntingdon Office, 9.30am - 2.30pm, 2 weekdays (days to be agreed).

What will you be doing?
Your day-to-day duties will include:

- interviewing parents and relatives after a birth or death
- completing computerised and paper records
- issuing birth or death certificates
- informing the coroner if there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding a death
- keeping accurate records

About you
You’ll need:

- the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds and cultures
- tact, patience and empathy, for dealing with people who may be distressed
- clear and accurate handwriting
- the ability to work under pressure
- excellent administrative and computer skills
