Do you want to make a real difference in helping our patients, our community and colleagues?
Are you looking for the challenge of working in a friendly, fast paced, dynamic and adaptable Service, with a career that’s not just ‘another job’?
We are looking to recruit reliable and enthusiastic Assistant Call Takers to join our motivated, friendly and hardworking team based in Bicester, Oxfordshire to support the smooth running of our Emergency Operations Centre.
- All day Saturday (midnight to midnight) as well as any weekday after 8pm and before 6am - Time plus 41%
- All day Sunday and public holidays (midnight to midnight) - Time plus 83%
- Plus we are now offering a generous recruitment and retention bonus.
A £200 bonus will be paid once you successfully complete the 3-week initial classroom training.
An extra £300 bonus will be paid when you’ve been successfully signed off after your coaching and mentoring period (roughly 3 months after the classroom training).
A further £700 bonus will be paid when you’ve completed your probationary period (generally 6 months after coaching sign-off but in some circumstances this can be extended).
(The bonuses above are for full-time contracts and those on part-time contracts will receive a percentage of the maximum bonus)
We are looking for Assistant Emergency Call Takers to work as part of our dynamic team to help support our 999 service. You will be answering and managing calls from Health care Professionals such as GPs, hospital clinicians, Midwives etc who have assessed their patients and need us to convey them to hospital or other health care facilities. This could vary from a patient who needs to be admitted to hospital with appendicitis to a mother who is in labour at home and needs to be transported to hospital to safely deliver her baby. In this role you will not be talking to members of the public but directly to the qualified clinicians to enable them to arrange the appropriate level of ambulance response for their patients. This is an extremely key role to ensure patients receive high standards of clinical and medical care and is an exciting introduction into the EOC and its career progression pathway. There is a huge variety within this role.
You will need to have a caring, compassionate and efficient nature and maintain composure during the call process. Having excellent keyboard skills is vital for this job role as you will need to record accurate information quickly.
**Benefits we offer**:
- Expert training and support from our dedicated in-house education team.
- Holiday entitlement is 27 days rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years, plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time).
- Enrolment into the NHS Pension Scheme.
- Access to continual professional development and opportunities within SCAS and the NHS.
- Occupational Health support along with an Employee Assistance Programme.
- NHS Discounts in over 200+ stores including Holidays, Days out, Car insurance, Restaurants and Clothing.
