**Accessibility Officer**

**Hours of Work: Part-time (17.5 hours per week)**

**Salary: The starting salary will be from £30,487 - £36,024 per annum in Grade 6A, depending on qualifications and experience**

We are hiring for an Accessibility Officer to champion and facilitate accessibility and reasonable adjustments within the University's work setting, ensuring a culture of inclusivity and equity.

In the capacity of Accessibility Officer, the primary responsibility will be fostering a collaborative approach with key stakeholders to instil a culture of inclusivity and equity, reinforcing the University's position as an employer of choice committed to diversity.

Critical to this role are excellent communication skills and a practical understanding of delivering reasonable adjustments, incorporating best practices. The Accessibility Officer serves as a guide, providing support and advocacy to ensure the creation of an inclusive and accessible work environment.

Through collaboration with various teams, the role involves actively participating in the implementation of policies, procedures, and initiatives tailored to address the specific needs of employees with physical and/or mental health conditions. In essence, the Accessibility Officer plays a pivotal role in shaping a workplace that values diversity and prioritises the well-being of all its members.

**Responsibilities**
- Support the Head of Health and Safety in the development and implementation policies and procedures to ensure a fair, equitable and transparent approach to reasonable adjustments and accessibility.
- Agree objectives and milestones related to reasonable adjustments, accessibility, equity and inclusion, to help drive improvements across the University and measure its impact and return on investment.
- Collaborate with Head of Health and Safety and key stakeholders to ensure compliance with Workplace and disability-related legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to co-create, implement and monitor policies and practices that foster an accessible, healthy and inclusive workplace.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors in accommodating employees with disabilities, including reasonable adjustments and assistive technologies. Build knowledge to build capability and confidence amongst managers and supervisors in promoting and supporting employees.
- Conduct assessments, surveys and audits to identify barriers and areas for improvement related to accessibility in the workplace.
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of reasonable adjustments and any initiatives undertaken by the university, recommending improvements based on feedback and data.
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mandatory training to establish a supportive culture towards reasonable adjustments and development of knowledge and understanding of the legal responsibilities across the University.

**About You**
- A professional qualification in wellbeing, mental health, learning and development, health and safety, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a similar role, promoting of reasonable adjustments, accessibility and equity
- Experience conducting workplace assessments for physical and mental health conditions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build positive relationships and effectively communicate with employees at all levels
- Ability to provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors in accommodating employees with physical or mental health conditions
- You will be based at our Horsforth Campus and through our agile working framework, will also spend time working remotely, which will be discussed further at interview._
