**Mental Health Support in Schools - Learning Support Assistant - Surrey**

The school is situated in Surrey and supports young people, aged 11-19, who have a range of additional needs associated with social, emotional mental health challenges. It's mainstream secondary school, who provide fantastic support to ensure their childreceive the education they deserve. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working 1:1 with a student who requires extra support. The school has recently been graded as 'Good' in key categories, such as leadership, management and behaviour.

**What is involved?**

An LSA will work under the direct supervision of a teacher to provide support for teaching and learning and associated activities in accordance with school policies and procedures. This may include providing support to individual students and small groupsof students. We are looking for flexibility, enthusiasm and sensitivity, and a willingness to be a team player alongside committed support teams.

**Day to day**:

- Supporting children's behaviour for learning
- Assisting children with their understanding of activities and encourage active participation in class
- Assisting with note taking
- You may work with individual learners in the classroom 1:1 or you may work with small groups
- Supporting the pupil's individual needs, according to their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Participating in team meetings and Continual Professional Development (CPD) training provided by the school as an active member of a team
- Maintaining pupil progress records
- Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding (_Department for Education _)

**What is required?**
- An undergraduate degree and/or previous SEN experience
- Good general education levels in English and Maths
- Knowledge, keen interest, or understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs
- Ability to adapt to a various working environments and students with differing abilities and behaviour
