An exciting opportunity is available to join the Respiratory Nursing Team as Band 7 Deputy Matron - to cover maternity leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior nurse who aspires to be a matron of the future. We are committed to support your professional development, providing exposure to the role of the matron and developing your leadership and management skills to prepare you for the next matron post.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a visible professional role model dedicated to high standards of care and patient safety. You will provide support to the Matron to monitor, maintain and improve quality of care across the specialty. You will be involved with the day to day operational management of flow and capacity, safe staffing, risk and governance agenda, supporting service improvement, staff well being initiatives and management of HR issues.

- including an admissions unit (RAU); 4 base wards - Southwell, Fleming, Berman 1, L ister 2; an Advanced Respiratory Care Unit (ARCU) ,a CF Unit. Seven specialist Nurse teams to include CF, Asthma, COPD, ILD, Lung cancer, TB and LAM and a team of ACP's.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To monitor, maintain and improve quality of care across the specialty

Support the matron with day to day operational issues

Support safe staffing, management of risk and governance issues

Provide support for service improvement, recruitment and retention, staff wellbeing

Provide visible leadership and management to the clinical teams

Deputise for speciality matron

Qualification

Essential criteria
- First Level Degree
- Current NMC registration

Desirable criteria
- mentoring course
- leadership course

Experience

Essential criteria
- Proven experience as Ward Manager
- Interest in/knowledge of respiratory medicine

Desirable criteria
- Experience of completing HR, Incident and complaint investigations

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
