Are you caring, compassionate, motivated and interested in developing your career within the health service? Join us at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, train to become a qualified Speech & Language Therapist (SLT).
We are recruiting for an SLT Apprentice within the Adult speech and language therapy team.
The SLT apprenticeship is a new and innovative route to ‘Learn while you Earn’ and combines 4 years of clinical employment, work based learning, and academic learning. Once your apprenticeship is completed, you will become a Band 5 SLT within the Trust, continuing your career with us.
As an apprentice you'll have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge, skills and experience during placements across the trust and our partner providers. You will be provided with dedicated time to study for a Bachelor’s degree in Speech & Language Therapy.
Please carefully review the qualification requirements in the person specification as these are also the entry requirements for the apprenticeship.
The Adult Speech and Language Therapy (ASLT) service in east and west Kent provides services to people over the age of 18 who require assessment, diagnosis and management of acquired swallowing and communication disorders.
We see patients in a range of settings including outpatient clinics, community hospitals, care homes and in their own homes.
As ASLT, we are a team of more than 20 SLTs and associate/assistant practitioners across Kent. We provide regular supervision and have specialist advisors in clinical areas including dysphasia, dysphagia, motor speech disorders, dementia, dysfluency and voice.
You will need to provide certificates as evidence of your qualifications as part of the recruitment process. The University of Sheffield also require:
- A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure check (or EU equivalent)
- A satisfactory occupational health screening report
Whilst you will be based in one specific team, your placements will give you a variety of learning environments working across both internal and external clinical placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of the local healthcare service.
