**Job summary**:
In DHSC, we are proud of our purpose - to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you’d like to work in, we’d love to hear from you.

This role sits within the NHS Finance branch, where we help DHSC to secure the best value for money from the system by providing effective support to NHS England. This is done through: robust challenge of policy design and efficiency options; providing advice on strategic planning and risk management; and providing assurance over reporting of the financial position of the system to Parliament - so that public money is spent efficiently and effectively.

**Job description**:
Working in the reporting and assurance team, you will work with teams across DHSC, NHS England and HM Treasury to ensure that the department is able to report on and assure parliament that public money in the NHS is being spent efficiently and effectively.

This role will support both the governance and assurance workstreams. You will provide effective secretariat support across key finance boards and ensure that the outcomes of these are linked to wider departmental processes and decision making. Further, you will ensure that governance processes are fit for purpose to support effective departmental oversight and accountability to parliament.

**Role responsibilities**:

- Lead on secretariat duties for the Financial Sponsorship and Accountability Board (FSAB), as well as the newly formed Productivity Board.
- Coordinate trilateral meetings between DHSC, NHS England and HM Treasury to support NHS financial management and oversight.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with teams internally and with NHS England and HM Treasury.
- Support departmental monitoring of the NHS financial position and reporting to Treasury.
- Support the department's ongoing engagement with external organisations such as the National Audit Office and the Covid Inquiry in relation to NHS financial management.

**Person specification**:
**Key skills and experience required for the role**:

- Experience interpreting and communicating complex data or financial information.
- Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Secretariat or governance experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good understanding of the wider political landscape and the interdependencies between policy and delivery.
- Good level of IT literacy, including the ability to understand and use Word and Excel.

**Behaviours**:
We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

- Communicating and Influencing
- Managing a Quality Service
