Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Governance, Assurance and Standards team within the Programme Office of the New Hospital Programme (NHP) providing support to the development and continuous improvement of programme governance. The successful applicant will provide effective secretariat support for NHP's senior boards and some committees and provide advice and support across the programme on NHSE's corporate governance to ensure it is appropriately reflected in NHP policies, frameworks and processes.

Main duties of the job

Reporting the Senior Programme Governance and Assurance Manager the postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the team and work with colleagues in the DHSC Sponsor Team and NHSE's Corporate Assurance team in delivering an efficient and effective governance model for the delivery of the NHP.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to:

Support the development and continuous improvement of programme governance and assurance reviews and events to enable smooth and effective decision-making.

Provide effective secretariat support for NHPs senior boards and some committees improving consistency of approach and standardisation, liaising with the Secretariats in NHS England and the Sponsor Team with regards wider NHP governance.

Provide advice and support across the programme on NHS Englands corporate governance to ensure it is appropriately reflected in NHP policies, frameworks and processes and aligns to sponsor team requirements.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

Experience of working in programme or corporate governance and providing a Secretariat service to governance forums. Experience of undertaking an assurance role, for example internal audit, programme assurance reviews of second line of defence functions.

Ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, on difficult and contentious issues where there may be a number of courses of action, working to tight and often changing timescales.
