**Job summary**:
The UK Missing Persons Unit (MPU) provides advice and support to police missing-person and unidentified investigations. We support existing investigations, and can lead on cases where there is no geographic locus for the case in UK policing. The MPU contributes to nationwide operational policy on 'missing', and we work with a range of partners in law enforcement, government and the third sector, in the UK and abroad.

**Job description**:
The role involves conducting investigations and developing intelligence to aid the search for missing people and linking missing and unidentified cases. Daily liaison with law-enforcement partners and other stakeholders, providing guidance and advice around missing and unidentified cases and policy. Administration of our specialised national database of missing, unidentified and come-to-notice cases, Hermes. Carrying out open-source searches, cross-match searches of missing people with unidentified remains and analysis of the results. Facilitating the exchange of information connected with the search for missing children and adults, nationally and internationally, including the provision of specialist advice.

***To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role.**

**Person specification**:

- Whilst a typical day revolves around responding to requests for assistance from our allocated police forces, it is the variation between tasks, projects, and case circumstances that make the role so interesting. There are constant opportunities for acquiring knowledge and expertise; for example around long term cases, forensic and bio-metric methodology, and international enquiries. Coupled with the opportunity to directly make a positive impact to an investigation - and ultimately the families of those who are missing - this makes for a very stimulating and rewarding role.**Qualifications**:

- Experience of working with or within law enforcement
- Please ensure the dates of any accreditations you are relying on, are entered on to the CV.
