An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Clinical Psychologist to join the multidisciplinary team of the Nottingham Auditory Implant Programme (NAIP), one of the leading establishments in cochlear implantation for severe and profoundly deaf adults and children.

You will provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults with severe to profound hearing loss and older children with similar needs (from age 13).

It is essential that the post-holder will have a doctorate level clinical psychology professional qualification and be HCPC registered.

Newly qualified Clinical Psychologists will be considered if they have appropriate experience and you will be supported through clinical supervision by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

The post holder will also contribute to departmental activities, including research and clinical governance as required.

Working for our organisation

The post holder will be employed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and could comprise of a mix of onsite and remote working involving some virtual appointments. When onsite the post holder will be primarily based at: Ropewalk House but may at times be required to work across NUH Campuses and you will be managed within the Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology service but with close co-working with the NAIP service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be accountable for own caseload and to coordinate complex clinical activities, taking on prime responsibility for the highly specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients of NAIP.

To prioritise own workload and caseload, in order to optimise and best serve the population of NAIP service users, utilising tools such as triage, pathway streamlining and report templates as appropriate.

To provide specialised clinical psychology services for issues primarily relating to and impacted upon by hearing loss, and to refer to/liaise with other agencies as appropriate for areas outside of this remit.

To contribute to the multi-disciplinary decision-making process of cochlear implantation as a treatment for individuals, and for the safe multi-disciplinary support of cochlear implanted service users.

To communicate highly complex condition-related information to patients who may be distressed, due to the nature of their condition.

To attend meetings of the Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology Department and other meetings within the Trust as required and to undertake duties arising from such meetings in keeping with the nature and grading of the post.

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC registration

Desirable criteria
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.

Experience

Essential criteria
- Working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist for at least 2 years
- Experience of working with people with medical/chronic physical health conditions and across a range of severity and presentations.
- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of conducting risk assessments

Desirable criteria
- Experience/knowledge of the theory of specialised psychological therapies for people with hearing impairment.
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
- Experience of conducting clinical research and service evaluation
