Family separation is never easy. The Child Maintenance Service helps parents, who are unable to make a private financial agreement in support of their child(ren)’s living costs, ensure and at times enforce, the legal responsibility to provide financial support. Our mission is to ‘get money to children’ because it makes a real difference to children’s lives.

**Job description**:
To work as a Senior Leader within the Financial Investigations Unit (FIU) with responsibility for:

- Leading the civil investigation teams nationally
- Analysing and evaluating, evidence providing clear guidance and support to progress investigations to an outcome
- Working with senior colleagues to develop investigative capability nationally
- Leading on all FIU transformation activities
- Managing relationships with key stakeholders within CMS and across DWP and HMRC
- Leadership of a geographically dispersed team of Higher Executive Officer team leaders, identifying development needs and addressing any performance issues effectively
- Developing your personal knowledge of all relevant legislation relating to income and child maintenance calculations
- Working closely with colleagues across the FIU building and maintaining a one team ethos
- Be an integral member of the leadership team. Working closely with colleagues to lead, support and influence the FIU strategy, design, development and implementation of changes, identifying, highlighting and resolving new issues
- Develop strong relationships with operational colleagues to ensure all appropriate cases are referred to the FIU
- Extensive stakeholder engagement to ensure the FIU outcomes meet stakeholder needs and that the reports and briefings are understood
- Identify, prioritise and address any risks or issues that may jeopardise prosecutions or other outcomes
- Continuously improve the provision of service, putting our clients, internal and external, at the heart of everything you do
- ** The role requires frequent travel to other CMS sites and potentially to sites across DWP with overnight stays as required**
- ** Must complete and pass an apprenticeship in financial investigation**:

- ** Must hold a full driving licence, due to the geographical disbursement of the team**:

- ** This role requires mandatory travel to other CMS/DWP sites for interviews/training etc. with overnight stays as required. Applicants must be flexible with their working pattern, day to day work location and be able to manage overnight stays or early starts whenever operationally required to do so. You must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week**
