We have six approachable and supportive GP partners, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a full team of Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants and management, reception and admin team who deliver first class care for approximately 9,700 patients locally.

HOURS OF THE POST - 30 hours per week

**JOB SUMMARY:

- **

To provide a high quality comprehensive information and administrative support service to the practice. The Administrative Assistant will process, summarise and organise patient correspondence and records both paper and electronic to provide an organised medical record which supports best clinical practice. The Clinical Coder will work as a member of the administrative team.

**MAIN DUTIES**

Administrative Assistants may be involved in some or all of the following areas of responsibility:
Support the Practice in the inputting of appropriate clinical and administrative practice data, accurately and timely onto a computerised system.

Summarise significant episodes in the patient medical record constructing an accurate, duplicate, computerised medical record.

Prune Lloyd George or alternative medical records in line with practice recommended guidelines.

Support the provision of necessary information to meet the requirements of Clinical Governance within the Practice.

Support the practice recall systems for the National and Local QOF, National and Local Enhanced Service provision, screening services and immunisation programmes.

Support the practice in providing specially commissioned services to assist the development of the practice.

Support the practice in the referral process, providing secretarial skills when appropriate.

Provide support in other areas of the organisation as necessary and in line with skill levels.

Identify ways to continually improve the quality of data held within the Practice with regard to accuracy, completeness and timeliness.

Use and maintain equipment and modern technologies as available.

Provide support in the co-ordination of Practice audit activity with regard to National Service Frameworks, local audit activity and Practice based audit.

Follow the national guidance with regard to patient confidentiality.

Support the Practice in providing NHS England with statutory information/data.

Attend appropriate training sessions and meetings.

Undertake any other tasks as may be appropriate as deemed by the Partners or Practice Manager.

- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
- Reporting potential risks identified.
