**JOB TYPE**:Fixed Term***

**FUNCTION**: Operations

**LOCATION**:Southampton, United Kingdom

**Purpose statement**:
To conduct work activities, as allocated by line manager, helping to maintain R&D’s HMRC Licence (Duty Suspension), ensuring all tobacco control related Standard Operating Procedures are in place and observed at all times including the Import of tobacco & materials, movement of tobacco across the site; incidences of non-compliance with HMR&C Licence conditions are reported in a timely manner, and all related activities are undertaken, in compliance with BAT EHS Policies & Practices.

**Key accountabilities**:
**Operational/Professional/Business**
- Work is allocated from managerial levels and technical mentorship is available.
- Ensure that accurate records are maintained for the receipt & management of tobacco products & materials to satisfy our licence with HMR&C.
- Co-ordinate the preparation of samples to be exported from site to external partners;
- Coordinating delivery of raw materials to manufacturing areas from both on-site and off-site warehouse locations, ensuring samples are manufactured to plan;
- Ensure the accurate disposal of all tobacco products is completed with all customs procedures followed and accurate documentation.
- Work is conducted using principles of ‘Best Practice’.
- Continual Improvement: support the development of new working procedures, methods or working practices for management approval as a result of a problem or challenges defined by management, mentorship from Technical Specialists is available.
- Support to the generation of external reports and audit records/findings, publications and presentations.

**Management**
- Planning - daily and weekly workload to support current projects/activities.
- Understands and applies their responsibilities under the EH&S policy, HMR&C compliance and Records Management procedure.

**Leadership**
- Will mentor/train users of the stock management system.
- Supporting partnership across the Manufacturing Department is vital to the success of the team and a flexible working approach is required.
- Support the identification and implementation of continual improvement.

**Relationship**
- Work is specific to the activities within the department.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships within and across other R&D teams.
- Engagement with external partners. (Logistics companies, Clearing agents etc

**Innovation**
- Identify and suggest changes to operating procedures and working practices for subsequent review and consideration.

The job holder is responsible for ensuring that the Importation, movement and management of tobacco stocks & materials used by GR&D meets HMR&C requirements, compliance with the infestation policy & that accurate information and records are maintained. The work is undertaken in accordance to scheduled work programmes, agreed customer time frames and to a defined quality standard.

**II. Knowledge, Skills and Experience**

**IIa. Functional Success Criteria**
- Skilled use and understanding of regulatory requirements and controls relating to the movement of tobacco and related materials.
- Relevant technical experience resulting in a detailed knowledge of HMR&C regulatory requirements, import/export and internal procedures;
- Ensuring issues of non-compliance (versus Stock Retention/Shelf Life Guidelines) are advanced in a timely manner, helping to ensure inventory (warehousing) costs are minimised:

- Experience in logistics industry for around 3-6 years to have and to be able to demonstrate that experience.

**IIb. Other Knowledge Skills and Experience**
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of IT systems (Stock control systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) ).
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Fork Lift Truck licence desirable but not crucial
