About the role:
You will be responsible for supporting and facilitating the chartering of ships on behalf of clients. You will negotiate contracts, research current market trends, and build relationships with clients and shipping companies. Working closely with the Chartering Manager, you will support with chartering operations for clients, as well as administrative tasks and coordinating logistics for ship transactions. This will include vessel inspections and surveys.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Assist the management team to negotiate contract terms as well as ensuring legal and regulatory compliance throughout transactions.
* Research and collect market data on freight rates, vessel availability, and competitor activity.
* Analyse market trends to identify opportunities, any risks for clients and offer recommendations for decision-making.
* Establish client relationships with ship owners, operators, and charterers, providing customised shipping solutions.
* Prepare presentations, reports, and documentation for client meetings, and respond to inquiries professionally and in a timely manner.
* Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
This role is based in our office in Southampton, Hampshire. You will be working Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
About you:
Ideally you will understand logistics and supply chain processes. You will have effective communication and customer service skills. Be proactive and have a results-oriented approach.
You will have exceptional organisational and time management skills. Ability to work effectively in a team and under minimal supervision. Attention to detail and ability to problem-solve. Adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. IT literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of regulations, customs procedures, and international trade laws is essential.
