This is a new Community General Adult Specialist post with North and East Community Treatment Team. The CMHT is positioned in Secondary Care and has a pivotal role in directly delivering specialist community mental health services, but also an interface with Primary care, Specialist Services such as Perinatal Mental Health, Eating Disorders, Early Intervention in Psychosis and Rehabilitation Services and many other specialist services.

This is a full time working age adult substantive Specialist Psychiatrist postin the Newcastle North and East Community Treatment Team, where you will provide medical input into a Community Treatment Team working with four other consultants covering the adult population in the North and East of Newcastle. The post-holder is expected to:

- Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams.

- To work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers’ Charter).

The post holder will find themselves well supported, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and collaborative working.

The Community Mental Health Team provides an assessment and treatment service for people who are experiencing difficulty with their mental health based on episodic model of care. The CMHT works closely with the local Crisis Team, Liaison service and Inpatient services to ensure safe and timely transitions when required.

As a Specialist working in the Community Mental Health Team for Newcastle East Community Treatment Team, you will have responsibility for the provision of safe and effective care and treatment which is evidence based. You will share the vision of integrated and multi-disciplinary working and actively engage in the development of the service through research and support.

The post holder would be expected to be s12 approved and will be expected to pursue Approved Clinician Status according to agreed procedures.
