HMP Kilmarnock is situated approximately three miles south-east of Hurlford in East Ayrshire and housing a range of male prisoner types. We have a fantastic opportunity for an administrative assistant to join our team.

We have a full-time vacancy for a Core Skills Tutor to join our team.

Working as part of the Offender Learning & Skills team you will be responsible for the delivery of Core Skills to prisoners across a range of abilities. This will include the use of IT as a medium for learning and development.

Initially reporting to the Assistant Director - The intention is that the post holder will eventually report to the Vocational Training/Learning Centre Manager.

As part of the Head of Enterprise Functions you will also be responsible for aspects development and implementation of a specialised learning strategy for offenders with learning difficulties.

The successful post holder will engage in teaching, assessment, quality assurance, delivery, and review of course material on the Core Skills course.

They must participate in matters related to all programs in the education department, as agreed with Assistant Director, Head of Enterprise Functions.

Some of the other key responsibilities for this role is:

- Work in partnership with Vocational Training staff to implement core skills into workshops.
- Functions develop and implement a strategy for the assessment and support of offenders with a learning difficulty/disability
- Attend CPD events.

Any other relevant duties that may arise from time to time as requested by the directorate.

**What you need to do the job**:
We are looking for an individual who holds a Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE or TQFE.

The successful post holder must hold at least Level 5 in Literacy and Numeracy.

They must have proven experience of working with people with one or more support needs in SpLD and hold or be working towards a recognised qualification. This is desirable but not essential.

They must have proven ability to assess, develop and progress learners towards recognised qualifications.

Have previous record of developing strategies for engaging learners.
