**Main Purpose of Role**:
To provide support for the planning and delivery of access to higher education outreach activities to increase participation of a wide range of students and applicants from a broad range of diverse backgrounds. These activities include:

- Outreach programmes for primary and secondary schools.
- Collaborative outreach programmes with partners such as NERAP and UniConnect.
- Supported outreach activities for mature learners returning to education.
- Bespoke programmes, funding and support for priority groups who are currently under-represented in higher education.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:

- To support the planning and delivery of targeted, regional outreach activities both in person (on an off campus) and online, particularly for the pre-16 market, mature learners returning to education and widening participation cohorts.
- To promote the University at regional and local events and fairs by creating and delivering interactive and engaging presentations, workshops and other events both in-person and online. Accurately relay information about the University to a range of stakeholders.
- To support the planning and delivery of bespoke programmes, funding and support for priority groups to ensure fair access and increase participation in higher education. This includes the planning, administration and promotion of bursaries and scholarships.
- To support the team in ensuring that all activities are appropriately tracked and evaluated in order to evidence impact. This includes inputting and accurately maintaining data entries and compiling reports.
- To build effective working relationships with colleagues across the Home Student Recruitment and external Relations services to ensure a supportive and collaborative approach to service aims, objectives and targets.
- To engage effectively with internal academic and support staff and externally with schools, colleges and other partners to develop knowledge of the higher education sector. Deliver an exceptional level of customer service that aims to exceed expectations to a wide range of stakeholders.
- To perform administrative tasks and back office support for the team such as maintaining and updating databases and spreadsheets, completing paperwork to meet HSE requirements e.g. risk assessments, arranging and taking minutes of meetings and keeping accurate records relating to finance and expenditure.
- To keep accurate records of outreach activities to evaluate the impact of these interventions and track participants using systems such as the HEAT database.
- To contribute to and assist with the collation and maintenance of evaluation and statistical data for all outreach interventions, funding and bespoke support.
- To provide support at key recruitment events such as Open Days, Confirmation and Clearing and other institutional events. To support the development of student staff including Student Ambassadors and Mentors.
- To be committed to professional development, undertaking training and staff development opportunities to ensure high standards of delivery and continuous improvement.
- To carry out all aspects of the role in an effective and proactive manner to ensure maximum operational effectiveness. Understand and support a culture which promotes a ‘can do’ attitude, excellent customer service, effective communication and team work and ownership of actions. Be an advocate for the University, positively promoting the service and institution.
- To contribute to the efficient functioning of the team as directed by the Widening Access and Participation Manager. To have a flexible approach to support the focus on student recruitment, and a willingness to undertake any other tasks the Widening Access and Participation Manager deems necessary.

**Special Circumstances**:

- This role requires enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential.
- A flexible approach to working is required, including evenings and weekends.
- This role involves regional travel, and may also require UK travel and overnight stays.

**Knowledge and Experience**:

- Experience of working in a student or other customer focused environment.
- Experience of working as part of an effective team as well as on own initiative.
- Demonstrable experience of providing a comprehensive range of administrative support.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering presentations to a wide range of audiences.
- Good ICT skills, in particular the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook).
