**Job summary**:
The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers is recruited from the four major areas of England: Northumberland, Warwickshire and the West Midlands, London and the Southeast and Lancashire in particular, Bury, Rochdale and Salford. Its permanent headquarters is located at the Tower of London with a separate office in Bury, Lancashire. It is a dedicated, dynamic, committed, multifaceted organisation with a diverse cross section of talents and experience. It is led by the Regimental Secretary and serves a wide constituency of both serving and retired military personnel, along with their dependents.

Key partners include affiliated civic authorities and leaders, along with military units from the UK and overseas, cadets. It has a broad portfolio of outputs including governance, sustaining, supporting our people (including welfare provision), community engagement, communications and heritage.

Location.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
This role is varied, but activities can be categorised under the following headings.

Communications.

The post holder will be the communication/media lead for Regimental HQ. Responsibilities include:

- Webmaster for the Regimental Association ‘Fusiliers Connect’ site.
- Deliver and as required contribute to regimental publications, publicity and information including the annual Journal, Newsletter website and social media posts (Facebook, Twitter and others as identified).
- Work with the branding and marketing contractor ensuring active promotion of the Regiment to both internal and external audiences.

Civil Engagement
- Promoting and developing the Regiment's identity, reputation and civil relationships.
- Liaising with local Mayors and MPs ensuring they remain fully aware of the activities of the Regiment. Maintaining and developing the Regimental influence network.
- Maintain close links with the Regiment's Freedom Towns / Cities and coordinate Freedom Parades as and when invited.

Welfare
- Work closely with the Welfare Secretary based in London to support the welfare efforts in support of veterans and their families and to act as the Regiment’s local point of contact on all veterans’ issues, working closely with the team based in Bury who is a case worker
- Be the lead when dealing with operational and other casualties including aftercare, liaising with Service Charities, Local Authorities, NHS and others to secure support for veterans within the area.

Comradeship
- As the Association focal point supervise its activities, ensuring that the Regiment and the Armed Forces are represented appropriately and positively.
- Prioritising and coordinating major regimental and commemorative events each year with a focus on Association events.

Regimental Engagement
- Foster a strong association with Fusilier badged ACF (Army Cadet Force) and CCF (Combined Cadet Force) in Lancashire and Northumberland, providing mentorship and advice on matters including Regimental support to their activity, especially Annual Camps.
- Coordinate military-led commemorative events as required.

Sustain and Support the Regiment
- Be prepared to support Deputy Colonels of Lancashire and Northumberland
- Provide advice to all Fusilier units in the north of England, both Regular and Reserve.

**Person specification**:
The post holder will have specific responsibilities across the Northwest and Northeast of England. The primary role is to be the focal point for all Regimental matters aiding 5th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers when appropriate.

This post can be demanding, but also most fulfilling. On occasions some evening and weekend work may be required (for which time off in lieu may be taken). We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, highly organised and able to co-ordinate activity to enable effective working.

They will possess excellent communication skills and able to translate sophisticated issues into a clear message. They should have the confidence to engage optimally at all levels of seniority, with both military and civilian colleagues and across government.

We would expect them to represent Regimental Headquarters at a range of meetings and conferences and they will be regarded as a credible Regimental representative within the Regimental area.
