**Head of HR - Advice and Operations**

Walsall Council have an exciting opportunity to hire a Head of HR - Advice and Operations.

This is great time to join Walsall HR. Although focused on the present we always have an eye for the future and to this end we are building a new senior HR team to help us achieve our goals.

Reporting to the Director of HR, OD and Administration, you will shine at Walsall HR. You will be working collaboratively with an outstanding senior HR team, and you will have the opportunity to shape a great HR advice and operations service. As a member of our senior management team, you will be able to build your profile as a credible professional in your field of expertise.

This new and exciting leadership role will provide the opportunity to lead, coach and develop a talented operational team, ensuring the delivery of an excellent generalist HR service to managers, directors and council employees.

You will have impressive experience working in a senior HR role in a large complex unionised and political environment. This will include experience of:

- leading collective bargaining and trade unions negotiations and consultations
- leading on the delivery of a schools related HR service
- managing senior level recruitment processes
- contributing to strategy discussions and decision making including the development of business plans with a particular focus on operational people implications

You will be resilient and agile with a level of self-confidence that enables you to operate effectively in all operational HR environments and situations.

You will know how to motivate and lead a team of talented people professionals and you’ll have the technical skills to ensure the service remains highly credible.

Offering a salary range of £67,604 to £80,882 plus attractive holiday and flexitime entitlements you can be sure Walsall is the place to be. The HR team operate a flexible blended working approach, this includes homeworking and attendance on site as and when required.

Interviews are scheduled for week commencing 14 August.
