Field Army is the ‘warfighting’ part of the Army Headquarters. Field Army generates land forces for operations and contingencies, it represents the cornerstone of the Army’s operational contribution to Defence offering an outstanding blend of challenge and variety not found anywhere else.

This post is the Field Army Special Information Control Systems Security Officer.¹ The role is responsible for the control and assurance of materiel in the Headquarters that requires security assurance under the STRAP² regime and is often referred to as the ‘STRAP Security Officer’, or ‘STRAPSO’.

The STRAPSO post is embedded in the Headquarters Field Army’s intelligence branch, working closely with the UK Defence and intelligence community. The focus on delivery of the Army’s operational outputs makes this role an exciting, relevant and interesting environment to work in. The post takes care of some of the most confidential information across the Army, MOD and government, and will work with a wide range of partners across government. Whilst this role requires discretion, the rewards of being key in enabling the Army’s most confidential operations and intelligence will provide job satisfaction to the right individual.

**Job description**:
We are responsible for HQ Field Army compartment matters, passage of clearances in and out of the HQ and assurance of the facilities. You will be the Focal Point of contact with Partners Across Government (PAG) including the UK intelligence agencies. Acting as the Security Authoriser for MoD systems. It is crucial that you carry out Business Support functions, including the production of Read Files and booking/ access to conference rooms and facilities.

Typical role level expectations:

- Responsible for information, advice and policy on STRAP matters within Field Army.
- Conduct STRAP inductions, de-inductions and defensive briefings as necessary.
- Act as focal point for providing current information on security clearances/ vetting and induction status of personnel.
- Liaison with Army Corporate STRAPSO, and other Corporate STRAPSOs across Defence.
- Contribute updates to National Authority database and liaise with National Authority on breaches of STRAP security.
- Monitor all STRAP related breaches in Fd Army in conjunction with the Army WARP.
- Provide support to projects where STRAP material is required to be held in Fd Army.
- Provide Business Support functions and access control to HQ Fd Army STRAP facilities and those relating to STRAP material.
- Act as LABYRINTH Security Authoriser (MOD IT system) and Local IT Security Officer.

**Person specification**:
We are looking for a motivated individual, who loves to handle their own workload and who enjoys working flexibly with strong interpersonal skills. The sensitive nature of the role and material it relates to requires maturity and responsibility as highly desirable.

Strong IT skills, specifically Microsoft IT packages, are important with a willingness to learn new systems.

Developed Vetting is required to perform the full range of responsibilities of the role. Employment can commence without Developed Vetting but if unsuccessful in gaining this, employment will not be able to continue.
