**Job Purpose**
To provide effective and efficient administrative support to the Head of Student Support and Advisory System and to the Medical School in general to ensure an excellent student experience. The post-holder will work within the UG Medical School Student Support Team. The primary place of work will be Wolfson Medical School Building.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Act as first point of contact for students in difficulty and for all student support issues using initiative and judgement to resolve issues independently.
3. Responsible for the maintenance and development of administration within the Advisory System and act as Clerk for the MBChB Student Support & Student Concerns Committee
4. To meet with MBChB students on a pastoral basis to ensure that direct support is provided to students who require assistance in order to maintain MBChB student numbers.
5. Responsible for ensuring arrangements for all student withdrawals and returning students liaising with Occupational Health Unit and recording on MyCampus.
6. To co-ordinate arrangements for reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities within the Medical School, to ensure students and relevant staff are aware of support required, to make certain that the Disability Discrimination Act is being upheld and MBChB student numbers are maintained.
7. Monitoring of protected characteristics and equality and diversity amongst MBChB students, ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place to provide support where a need is identified.
8. To provide an effective administration service to the Medical School with regard to student records and enquiries, student progress and staff enquiries in line with School Regulations and deal with Supportworks requests.
9. Responsible for maintaining a database of Student Support meetings and produce an annual report for the MBChB Advisory Service. In collaboration with the Head of Student Support develop and implement policies and procedures to aid clarity and transparency in areas where problems have been identified or can be anticipated going forward.
10. To advise students and staff on student funding issues, ensure that the financial support of students is maintained and raise awareness of funding available to support students and aid student retention.
11. Assist with the MBChB clinical and written examinations during exam periods.
12. To assist with any other duties as are reasonably assigned by School Manager or Deputy School Managers.

Al VQ 3, Higher grades, City & Guilds or equivalent
A2 Knowledge of student welfare issues

**Desirable**
BI An appreciation of wider University and HE issues and their impact on this role.
B2 Knowledge of the MBChB Curriculum.

**Skills**

**Essential**
Cl Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
C2 Strong oral and written communication skills
C3 Ability to use own initiative and work under mínimal supervision.
C4 Excellent interpersonal skills; in particular the ability to empathise appropriately with students.
- C5_ A creative and proactive approach to preventing and solving problems. C6 Ability to work as part of a team.
C7. Accuracy and attention to detail
C8. High level of lT skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

**Experience Essential**
El Significant relevant experience in an education and/or an NHS department with qualifications listed in A1**,** or evidence of progression and development gained through substantial relevant work experience without qualifications.
E2 Experience in dealing with matters of a confidential nature.

**Desirable**
Fl Experience of a professional undergraduate programme within a Higher Education
establishment
F2 Experience of using MyCampus for student support

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum pro rata
