**Job Purpose**
To provide high quality administrative support and coordination to enable the efficient and effective management, delivery and development of the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine’s UG Recruitment, Admissions and Student Support Services.
The role holder will ensure the coordination and seamless delivery of student support and wellbeing provision so that students receive the support they need, and staff are confident about the support available to students.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Co-ordinate the delivery of essential student support services across the School without supervision, working in close partnership with relevant academic and administrative colleagues in the University, external partner institutions and accrediting bodies, reviewing processes and implementing changes and improvements where appropriate.
2. Manage the Good Cause and Fitness to Study procedures in the School, to ensure that students in difficult circumstances have the support they need (including specialist support where appropriate) and are able continue on the programme
3. Handle sensitive issues using judgement to provide specialist advice to students, maintain crisis communication protocols and when required become part of the crisis team including contributing to the wider reputation management of the University where appropriate.
4. Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine UG student recruitment activity - organising applicant interviews, administering the on-line ethical reasoning test, and collating scores for both this test and the interviews to support the achievement of international, Home/EU/RUK undergraduate student recruitment targets.
5. Act as an ambassador for the School to maximise the recruitment, conversion and registration of students to meet student numbers and financial targets
7. Take an active part in annual visits to partners overseas to maintain and strengthen international links that deliver UG students to Glasgow.
8. Manage Tier 4 monitoring and recording of attendance data for UG students, to ensure students and the School meet their legal obligations to the UKVI in relation to visas/sponsor status.

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**
A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent.
A2. Detailed knowledge of the challenges facing students in higher education and in veterinary training in particular.
A3. An appreciation of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the veterinary profession and in the workplace more generally.

**Desirable**
B1. An understanding of the priorities for a safe and supportive environment for veterinary students.
B2. A basic qualification in counselling skills.
B3. An understanding of the significant cultural and social differences in the student body.
B4. Knowledge of relevant international education systems.

**Skills**

**Essential**
C1. Exceptional ability to interpret and understand client difficulties in a dispassionate manner, working with them to identify their needs and possible support solutions.
C2. Excellent interpersonal skills including team working, influencing, negotiating and conflict resolution.
C3. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening), including tact, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality (including data protection).
C4. Very strong personal resilience and the ability to manage own mental wellbeing when supporting others in very sensitive/vulnerable/demanding circumstances.
C5. Excellent administrative skills including the ability to write case reports and manage follow-up activity which can extend over a prolonged period.
C6. Excellent time and workload management skills.

**Desirable**
D1. Expertise in IT systems (eg MyCampus, UCAS, VMCAS) and policies and procedures (eg Good Cause and Fitness to Study) used by the School or the ability to demonstrate proficiency in software, policies and procedures of a similar level of specialisation.

**Experience**

**Essential**
E1. Experience of working in a similar environment eg one or more of: mental health support/professional training/a setting with predominantly young adults.
E2. Experience of working independently, multi-tasking and resolving unexpected issues and challenges.
E3. Experience of reviewing processes and implementing changes to improve service delivery.

**Desirable**
F1. Experience of working with people in other countries.

**Student Support**:

Administering UG support systems across the School, for approx 630 students. Liaising with students, academic staff and administrative colleagues at School, College and University level. Interacting with external bodies, both home and overseas including accrediting bodies from time to time.
