**Full Time | SC2, Point 3-4 (£20,812 - £21,189)**

**Reporting to: Head of School, Executive Principal, Hub Estates Lead, Head of Estates**

**Liaising with: Senior Site Operative, Site Maintenance Team, Cleaning Team, Grounds Maintenance and Security**

**Location: Holyhead School and Gospel Oak (Based on a 50:50 basis at Holyhead School and Gospel Oak School)**

**Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks**

**Core Responsibilities**
- Supporting school site, accommodation, buildings and grounds; liaising with the Hub Estates Lead where required.
- Supporting the safety of staff, students and visitors to the schools by the effective use of staffing and equipment.
- Supporting the security of the premises and equipment in accordance with established procedures and practices
- Supporting a robust Asset Management Plan for the schools which provides clear direction and effectively manage the school’s assets; in liaison with the Executive Principal and Head of Estates
- Supporting a proactive Health and Safety provision across the both schools
- Adhering to policies, systems and procedures for First Aid (in liaison with School’s Health and Safety Advisors) and implement the provision of first aid across the school and ensure, in liaison with the First Aid Officer, that records are maintained in accordance with HSE and education best practice
- Controlling the selection, supervision, quality of work and ensuring a safe system of work for all staff and external contractors working at the school site
- To ensure that the school looks clean and at all times but especially in public areas portrays a clean, hygienic and professional impression.

**Key Tasks**:
**Premises Management**
- Work with senior leaders (including the Governors, Business Manager, relevant Heads of Department) to develop and implement a Facilities Strategy, identifying the current and future operational needs of the school both in the current, medium and long term. Provide advice on likely consequences of all proposed courses of action and guidance on practical elements during the planning stages.
- To ensure that the School’s buildings and premises are maintained appropriately and in accordance with the Asset Management Plan and statutory requirements are met.
- To support Site Supervisors and the Cleaning Team to ensure that there is always presence on site during core hours to oversee day to day requirements and respond to any premises matters arising.
- To ensure that the building and grounds are secure and safe at all times and that reporting and recording systems exist to monitor and highlight defects, incidents and risks. To ensure that systems are in place and operate to ensure the security of the school, including CCTV, entry systems, locking, safe custody of keys and who they are issued to, intruder and fire alarms etc
- To keep abreast generally of new developments in facilities and premises management as part of continued professional development.
- To support the maintenance and management of facilities with mínimal disruption to the working day, adhering to Health and Safety requirements at all times (including fire safety and security risks) and complying to legal, statutory obligations.
- Plan for the introduction of agreed developments within facilities and ensure that they are implemented effectively and in line with policies and requirements (e.g. budget constraints, deployment of staff, procurement, quality and Health and Safety). Effectively manage this work, service, and teams alongside the day-to-day operations.
- Work with the Executive Principal, Hub Estates Lead and Head of Estates on future Capital projects.

**Health and Safety**
- Keep abreast of all legal and statutory Health and Safety legislation, school obligations and ensure compliance of these by developing and implementing school wide policies and procedures in relation to all aspects of facilities management, quality standards and compliance. Be responsible for the management of risk in all areas covered across the school sites (including the school motor vehicles) to identify, mitigate and resolve any hazards.
- To promote Health and Safety within the schools and help ensure that all staff are aware and fulfil their individual and team responsibilities within the Health & Safety hierarchy and framework determined by legislation and the School’s policies. To facilitate team planning and review.
- Develop, maintain and implement policies, procedures and practices concerning Fire, Health and Safety across the whole School and ensuring statutory compliance.
