Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom Remedi - Restorative Services Full time

**PROFILE**

As a Domestic Abuse Worker, you will provide emotional and practical support to Young People aged 13-24 years affected by Domestic Abuse. Your primary role will involve delivering support and restorative interventions with young people who are or have experienced domestic abuse either in the family home or within their own intimate relationships. This includes young people displaying controlling and coercive behaviours.

You will be expected to complete a holistic, client-centred needs assessment with the people you work with to identify any support needs they may have. You will then jointly develop a support plan WITH them to address the individual needs identified.

In addition, we want you to be able to deliver awareness-raising workshops in groups and on a 1-2-1 basis to young people.

You will be fully trained in the CEASE programme and using restorative approaches with the people you work WITH and signpost to relevant support services where necessary. This will include being trained and confident in delivering:

- Restorative Mentoring Services
- Trauma Informed Practice
- Restorative Approaches and Safeguarding

This will help the people we work with to cope with what is happening to them and their families, and to work towards reducing the impact of the Domestic Abuse.

You will work to build positive relationships and ensure partnership working with Supporting Victims’ Unit, Housing, DWP, Health, Social Services, Solicitors, Police, Youth Offending Service, Courts, Domestic Abuse Services etc. on behalf of clients and to act as their advocate where appropriate/signpost to relevant support services where necessary. Good working relationships are key to succeeding in this area of work.

To be able to fulfil the above, we are looking for a certain level of skills and qualities:
**COMMUNICATION**:

- You need to be able to listen and respond appropriately to what is being said so that Young People feel supported and valued. This is a key attribute to being successful and delivering a quality service in this role.

**Flexibility
- **Working with young people requires a flexible approach to ensure you are available at times convenient to them; this can involve working on evenings and weekends. In return, we don’t expect you to work a rigid 9-5 Monday-Friday working week. You will be expected to manage your diary effectively and be prepared to travel.

**Motivation
- **The role is extremely rewarding and can instill in you a high level of pride. Working with people affected by Domestic Abuse has such a powerful impact to know you have potentially changed someone’s life and empowered them to move forward. It is a vital part of the role to work in close partnership with other agencies and attend regular meetings. You will have to work on your own initiative and make judgements that take into account the needs of the people you are working with, your own workload and the specific contract requirements.

We want you to promote and raise awareness of our service in your area to increase the level of referrals. We want you to be the type of person that will see this as a challenge you want to meet because when it is achieved, lives are changed.

**IT Capable
- **We want our team to spend the majority of their time working with people. There is however a responsibility to record information accurately and promptly. Recording the work, you deliver is vital in showcasing the amazing work you will be doing and is a contractual requirement.

As a result, it is essential that you are proficient in using:

- Electronic calendar
- Word
- Excel
- Microsoft Teams / Zoom

We will encourage and expect you to maximise the use of remote methods of working with people remotely. It is essential therefore that you are comfortable with using platforms such as TEAMS and ZOOM

**Safety
- **We want you to work safely in all aspects of your role. This will mean following our own internal policies and procedures and will require you to consider safety in relation to the following aspects:

- Safeguarding
- Lone Working
- General Data Protection Regulation
- Confidentiality

**WHAT TO EXPECT**

Your role will be based in Humberside, and you may be required to travel within the various geographical locations of Humberside to meet the needs of young people where remote methods are not suitable. Expenses are covered, but you will need to drive and have access to your own vehicle.

WE WILL PROVIDE:

- A flexible working environment
- A laptop and mobile phone to enable you to work remotely
- A high level of Internal and external training
- Access to free and confidential support and counselling
- Opportunities to progress throughout Remedi
- You will be required to undertake a DBS check and Police vetting prior to a formal job offer being confirmed
- You will have a line manager who you will meet individually at least once a month and they will also be available during the week to provide support and guidance
