As part of a long-term growth plan, the Department of Psychology is recruiting to two new teaching/research posts. These positions offer an opportunity to join a vibrant and inclusive community at the University of Warwick which is rated 10th in the UK and 64th in the World (QS world university rankings 2023).

Starting date: 1st Oct 2023 or by mutual agreement.

Interview Date: TBC.

**JOB PURPOSE**

You will undertake research, teaching, administration, and other activities supporting the work of the Department and developing and enhancing its reputation, both internal and external to the University.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Research**

1. To establish a research programme and pursue individual and collaborative research of excellent quality.

2. To publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing.

3. To secure, in collaboration with colleagues as appropriate, external funding through research grants or contracts to support research.

4. To supervise post-doctoral research assistants, research students, technical and other support staff engaged in research.

5. To attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the Department.

6. To develop and engage in activities and collaborations with stakeholders that increase the impact of your research beyond academia, if appropriate.

**Teaching**

8. To design, and be responsible for the contents of, specific areas of teaching and learning within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

9. To supervise undergraduate and postgraduate project work.

10. To support students during any placements, fieldwork or exchange programmes as required.

11. To ensure that student feedback on teaching is sought and to respond constructively to such feedback.

12. To maintain a broad knowledge of up-to-date research and scholarship in relevant fields to ensure that teaching meets the standards expected within a research-led University.

13. To undertake academic duties (i.e. setting examination questions, marking, invigilation and pastoral support of students) required to sustain the delivery of high quality teaching.

14. To co-ordinate and undertake pastoral support for students within the programme, course, or modules for which the post holder is responsible, liaising where necessary with other University agencies such as the Senior Tutor's Office.

**Administration and Other Activities**

16. To contribute to the efficient management and administration of the Department by performing administrative duties as allocated by the Head of Department and by taking on appropriate Departmental responsibilities. Such duties may include, for example, directing PGR, PGT or UG courses, or being Admissions Officer or Year Abroad Co-ordinator.

17. To provide leadership to those working within programme areas, as course leader or equivalent, by for example co-ordinating the work of others to ensure that courses are delivered effectively.

18. To contribute to the development of teams and individuals through the appraisal system and by providing advice on personal development.

19. To act as a personal mentor to PhD students, researchers and colleagues.

20. To attend Departmental meetings and to participate in other committees and working groups within the Department, the faculty and the University.

21. To participate in relevant professional activities and engage in continuous professional development.

22. To undertake external commitments that reflect well on and enhance the reputation of the University.

23. To ensure compliance with health and safety and data protection in all aspects of work.
