We are looking for an enthusiastic and excellent academic to drive the development of this new interdisciplinary programme, helping to establish the course curriculum and deliver teaching in your areas of expertise which lies within the areas of climate change science, decarbonisation, materials life cycle analysis and product eco-design, and/or environmentally sustainable materials chemistry and engineering. You will support teaching, learning and assessment activities including lectures, tutorials, and project supervision You will enhance the Department’s teaching reputation both internally and externally, and contribute to the development of high-quality teaching and student experience.

You must demonstrate sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in global decarbonisation and climate change through previous research, teaching or industrial experience to develop teaching, learning and assessments, particularly in aspects of global sustainability You will have an excellent degree (minimum 2:1 honours) and a postgraduate qualification (PhD) in a relevant discipline.

You will be familiar with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning and have proven competence in teaching in higher education. You will also have an ability to use a range of delivery techniques to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire effective learning.

Whereas this role is teaching focused, we encourage you to also participate and contribute to the research portfolio and project supervision of the Chemistry Department and the wider activities within all Faculties in the areas related to environmental sustainability, climate science and decarbonisation.

You must have the capacity to contribute collegiately to the life and community of the Department by undertaking a variety of duties, such as supporting offer holder days and outreach activities which may occasionally require weekend work.

You will have strong communication, IT, time management and organisational skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills with relevant experience of working independently and as part of a team. You will understand equal opportunity issues and practical health and safety concerns in a teaching or industrial context. Engagement in professional, pedagogic and practitioner research and other scholarly activity is also expected.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To support the course management, curriculum development and delivery of the Global Decarbonisation and Climate Change Postgraduate courses; one of newly approved interdisciplinary courses forming part of the University of Warwick’s STEM Grand Challenge. To undertake development, delivery and administration of teaching and learning within the areas of climate change science, decarbonisation, materials life cycle analysis and chemistry-led product eco-design, and/or environmentally sustainable materials chemistry and engineering at the University of Warwick. To support teaching, learning and assessment activities including lectures, workshops, practical classes, and supervision of projects. To enhance the Department’s and the wider Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine’s teaching reputation, both internally and externally, and contribute to the development of high-quality STEM+ teaching and student experience in sustainability, decarbonisation and climate change.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Research and Scholarship**:
1. Reflect on practice and the development of own teaching and learning skills.

2. May conduct individual or collaborative scholarly projects.

3. May be called upon to contribute to the identification of sources of funding and the process of securing funds for scholarly activities.

5. Develop and produce learning materials and disseminate the results of scholarly activity.

**Teaching and Learning Support**:
1. Teach as a member of a teaching team in a developing capacity within an established programme of study, corresponding to a variety of teaching modes as needed (face-to-face, online, blended, termly, weekly etc.) with the assistance of a mentor if required.

2. Develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches, corresponding to a variety of teaching modes as needed (face-to-face, online, blended, termly, weekly etc.).

3. Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.

4. Ensure that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning objectives.

5. Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills, and help them with learning problems.

6. Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback
