Job Purpose

The Social Media and Marketing Co-Ordinator role will provide support to the Communications and Marketing Officer and Head of Communications and Development.

The Communications and Development department is responsible for promoting Northumberland National Park Authority to a wide range of audiences for multiple project areas including conservation, farming, access, learning and engagement, as well as promoting The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre and Northumberland National Park to visitors.

The role requires a self-motivated person, with a positive can-do attitude, to support internal departments and project teams and actively promote the work of Northumberland National Park Authority. This role will have a particular focus on The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre, including the promotion of exhibitions, engagement programmes, events, and activities, as well as visitor communications for Northumberland National Park as a place.

This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to be office based either at The Sill, the National Park’s head office in Eastburn, or in the National Park, at least 40% of the working week.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Communications team with the coordination and delivery of marketing campaigns and materials for The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre and Northumberland National Park.
- Coordinate content for social media platforms and websites for the promotion of exhibitions, programmes, and events.
- Support the Communications team by writing, scheduling and monitoring content for social media platforms and websites in line with Northumberland National Park Authority’s business plan and objectives.
- Support the Communications team to plan, organise and deliver events to launch exhibitions and engagement programmes.
- Respond to enquiries via social media channels.
- Support the creation of marketing materials.
- Stakeholder engagement through communications and events both in person and through digital channels.
- Coordinate and implement marketing campaigns as agreed with Head of Communications and Development.
- Contribute to the production of marketing materials by sourcing information, liaising with external partners and contributors, writing copy, sourcing photos and proof reading.
- Assist with writing, proofing, and editing marketing materials as required.
- Assist with writing and sharing internal communications on the staff intranet.
- Create and schedule user-friendly content for NNPA websites and social media platforms.
- Support the Communications and Marketing Officer with content for the National Park’s mailing list.
- Create materials to promote events and activities, working under guidance from the Design Officer.

- Proactively support the promotion of equality and inclusion in all areas of work

Partnership working and liaison
- Liaise with partners to ensure information is up to date and in line with NNPA’s current marketing and communication priorities.
- Liaise with external providers such as printers, distribution companies and photographers.
- As part of a team, support a culture which fosters innovation, creativity, open communication and collaboration throughout the Authority.

Other Duties
- Represent the National Park Authority at events when required.

Essential

Knowledge
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, WordPress, Teams.
- Demonstrable understanding of different social media channels/audiences.
- Familiar with Northumberland National Park as a place and The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre.
- Awareness of UK National Parks and the role they play in society.

**Skills**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail, including the ability to adapt to different audiences, channels and purposes.
- Ability to work within a small, fast-paced team.
- Excellent organisational skills, working under pressure and to deadlines.
- Confident presenting both in person and via online video.
- Able to work independently and use initiative.
- Able to prioritise and plan effectively.
- Ability to think creatively, across the full marketing mix.
- Skilled in using Indesign and Photoshop.

Experience
- Experience in a communications or marketing role supporting the implementation of a marketing and communications plan.
- Experience working with Microsoft Teams and working remotely.
- Experience of working within budgets and deadlines.
- Experience of producing content for social media.
- Event planning.
- Writing content for social media and websites.

Personal Qualities
- Confident self-starter who takes an innovative approach and who can spot opportunities and make suggestions.
- Confident or willing to learn video editing software.
- Ability to manage both internal and external relationships to collaborate on content.
